Saturday Bliss

Ever since I started working from home, I find myself going out of the house less and less. Why would I need to? I have everything I need because I am home, except human interaction. It definitely was enjoyable for the first few weeks, but after a while you really miss talking to someone. To remedy this situation, I started to take myself out on little dates. About a month ago I went on my first date with the Yale Jazz Band (which you can read about here) and more recently saw the Seymour High School Band play a concert tribute to Bob Marley. While these have been amazing events, I was still craving interaction.

Welcome coffee shops. I really never liked coffee and therefore never really found a reason to go. I also worked at Starbucks for 3 years, so I felt like I had gotten my fill of the coffee shop experience. What I didn’t know (or maybe I just forgot) is how peaceful a coffee shop can be so early in the morning. Yesterday I decided that I was going to head over to the Sbux in Danbury while hubby was teaching his Bikram Yoga class and MAN! did I get some work done! It was great. I made the pledge to be there for 3 hours and I couldn’t believe how fast the time flew by! I loved it so much that I am actually writing this blog post from another Starbucks this morning! This new chain of events got me to thinking. There are many Starbucks in my hometown and one of them just so happens to be next to the gym that I never seem to make it to. To remedy this, I’ve come up with a game plan. I’m going to go work at Starbucks for a few hours and then head over to the gym. I have no excuse now! I’m really excited to take this next step and can’t wait to see where it will take me. If nothing else, I know I am going to start feeling even better than I do now!

Much more happened yesterday than just this great idea. When I was done being super productive, hubby and I decided to go for a hike. We decided to check out Black Rock State Park in Watertown, CT. Oh. My. Beauty! This is definitely one of my new favourite hiking spots. Every few minutes I stopped to take pictures,  I couldn’t help it, everything was just GLOWING in sunlight. There was still a fair amount of snow on the ground so it was a bit challenging on the way up. We took our time and I definitely made good friends with a few trees! We started up the blue trail which was almost a straight hike up and then we switched to the red trail. That was my favourite. We hiked along side a little stream most of the way and it was so peaceful with the sound of the running water and the sunlight streaming in through the evergreens. After our hiked we headed over to the huge open field at the start of the park and hula hooped in the sunshine. What an absolutely glorious afternoon! Later that evening we visited friends out on their farm and took a lovely sunset stroll around their property while their dog enjoyed the delicious fresh air. It’s been a long winter and it was so nice to be able to spend most of the day outside, even if the air was a little crisp.

Here are a few pictures from our hike yesterday. How did you enjoy the weekend? Please feel free to leave a comment below! 🙂
