All shook up

309259_10200179950494155_643048198_nWhat a great weekend! My hubby Brendan and I went to the FAMOUS Capitol Theatre to see Kung Fu and Deep Banana Blackout. Let me just tell you that I DID NOT SIT DOWN! There was no way. The music was infectious, arousing, funky, beautiful bliss. The musicians were so tight, so in sync and I enjoyed watching them communicate to each other through their instruments and through their bodies. It was an amazing amazing show. The picture to the left is Kung Fu doing their thing. Needless to say, if you have an opportunity to see either or both of these bands, DO IT. I absolutely PROMISE you will not be disappointed. My only recommendation is to not wear hot heavy shoes. I was boiling by the end of the night! Boots were not a good idea! Lol.

Our Sunday was spent with lots of yoga and my being very productive in putting together my community group coaching program called “Rock The Love” which you can check out here.

On our way home, later that evening,  we noticed a group of kids running down the street. We thought that they were being goof balls and really didn’t think anything of it. Then, just a few feet down the road was a frantic woman waving her hands and standing in the street. We were a little hesitant to pull over, but she seemed distressed so we did.  She then told us that she was just robbed and kept pointing down the road the way the group of kids ran. I immediately was sick to my stomach. She seemed ok and soon after a local security car showed up. I called and reported it anyway and feeling that she was safe, drove home.

I’ve been really shaken up about it ever since. I’ve walked down that way many times, alone and at night, but now I am afraid. I don’t like not feeling safe. I keep thinking it could have been me and I am grateful that it wasn’t and I am glad (that at least physically) she is OK. It makes me upset to know that there are people still capable of upsetting other people’s lives for fun. I want to be able to do something. Right now the best thing that I can come up with is letting it out through music. This song kept coming up for me every time I thought about what happened and how I felt about it. Even though sometimes bad things happen, there is still hope. We’ve just got to carry on and keep that hope alive every day. Do good things, give a stranger a smile, help your neighbor, never ever hold back love. This world needs it now, everyday, more than ever.

I KNOW A PLACE
By: Bob Marley

When the whole world lets you down
And there’s nowhere for you to turn
Cause all of your best friends let you down-own-own

And you tried to accumulate
But the world is full of hate
So all of your best thoughts, just adrift through space

I know a place where we can carry on
I know a place where we can carry on
We can carry on, we can carry on
We can carry on, we can carry on

And this people like you, ooh people like me
People need to be free yeah
There’s a place in the sun where there is love for everyone
Where we can be yeah

I know a place where we can carry on
I know a place where we can carry on
We can carry on, we can carry on
We can carry on, we can carry on

Yeah when the whole world lets you down
And there’s nowhere for you to turn
Cause all of your best friends have a let you d-down, down-own-own

And you tried to accumulate
But the world is full of hate
So all of your best thoughts, just adrift through space

I know a place where we can carry on
I know a place where we can carry on
We can carry on, we can carry on
We can carry on, we can carry on

  1. I’m sorry that happened to that woman. I’m so grateful you were there to help. Don’t lose your positive attitude and trusting that deep down all people are good. Some people make really bad decisions and define themselves by the circumstances. Practice compassion for them and they can’t hurt you. I love listening to you are your birdies sing sweets songs to me. So inspiring!
