Hello there! It’s so nice to be posting again. Husband and I had successful travels across most of the country and are now nicely settled down in Colorado. I absolutely love it here already.
One of the things that I learned most about moving is the art of letting go. I don’t think I have quite mastered it, but I am certainly getting a bit closer to understanding it. Before the move we had a tag sale and sold nearly half of the contents of our apartment! The only thing that came back inside (and consequently with us to Colorado) was a juicer. It felt great to get rid of so many things and now after being here a few weeks, I don’t miss any of them.
There were also a couple of things that didn’t make it out here with us. It was a hard decision to make, but ultimately they went to the best homes and that’s really all that we could ask for.
Before we move I was subscribed to several daily email-newsletters. When I first signed up I loved reading them and they became my daily ritual. As we got closer and closer to moving, I found that I was pushing them off more and more. Sometimes I would set aside time to read them all at once, but I found that I was just scanning through them and not really absorbing what it said. Eventually they just started piling up in my inbox. Every day that went by and I didn’t read them I felt guilty and that I was letting something/one down, but I really didn’t have an interest to read them. Sitting there spending close to a good hour or more reading emails, after being on the computer most of the day already, just didn’t seem like any fun.
The other day I finally had enough. I opened one, scrolled all the way to the bottom and hit UNSUBSCRIBE. Then I did another, then another. Then I deleted all the emails that kept piling up and taunting me. I’ve been liberated!!
Sometimes it’s the smallest thing that can make a difference in your day or perspective. Do you receive endless amounts of emails? Could you spend a few minutes clicking unsubscribe and lighten your load? Is there something else that has been hanging over you that you can easily cut the string to?
It doesn’t really matter if they’re big or small, the only steps that matter are the steps you take at all!!
