“We’re so lucky we’re still alive to see this beautiful world. Look at the sky. It’s not dark and black and without character. The black is in fact deep blue. And over there! Lighter blue. And blowing through the blueness and the blackness, the winds swirling through the air. And there shining, burning, bursting through, the stars! Can you see how they roar their light? Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes.”
~ Vincent to the Doctor
Recently, I became madly obsessed (and with good reason) with BBC’s Dr. Who. It’s a show that follows the travels and adventures of one eccentric, clever and amazing Doctor and his companions and boasts a wide array of villains and no-do-gooders that they encounter (and defeat!). The story of the show in itself is intriguing, but it’s the brilliantly executed, sometimes quirky and wildly heart-felt dialogue that really pulls me in (OK…and the fantastic problem-solving!! Nerd alert! haha). Whether you watch the show or have never heard of it before, these quotes are definitely applicable in real life and you just might start to see your world a little bit differently (and much more magically)!!
“The universe is big. It’s vast and complicated and ridiculous. And sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.”
“The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It’s not the time that matters, it’s the person.”
“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”
“There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”
“I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”
“This is one corner… of one country, in one continent, on one planet that’s a corner of a galaxy that’s a corner of a universe that is forever growing and shrinking and creating and destroying and never remaining the same for a single millisecond. And there is so much, so much to see.”
After all……
“We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?”
