Sacred Spaces – Work Space Edition

IMG_2022“Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in us, not the sort of silence that is filled with unspoken criticism or hard withdrawal. The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of someone as they are. We are all hungry for this other silence. It is hard to find. In its presence we can remember something beyond the moment, a strength on which to build a life. Silence is a place of great power and healing.”

Working from home, I have a lot of quiet time. Sometimes I will listen to music, sometimes the clicking of my keyboard will fill the room. Sometimes, I need a moment to just be. I have a large altar that I keep in my home. It has all of my stones on it, special belongings and pictures. I love spending time in front of it, meditating, reflecting on my day or just listening deep within for my own voice.

There are times though, during my work day, when I need to take a moment to reflect, gather my strength and refocus. I started to create a weekly altar for my desk. I intuitively choose stones for that week (Golden Healer Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Aquamarine and Ametrine are featured in this desk altar). I also pull an Angel Card as my focus word for the week. I love being able to glance over at my altar and take a few moments to re-gather myself. I also enjoy keeping a small tea light candle burning. To be honest, I just like the way it makes my workspace feel, magical and romantic – not something you typically associate with work!!

How to you bring happiness into your work day? Do you have a special space at work that you go to reflect? What are some of the things that you like to include?

  1. I am a home based worker and I love the idea of creating an altar to help balance things. Thanks for the idea!

    1. So glad to hear!! Absolutely! 🙂 It’s really helped make my workspace a place that I really enjoy spending time in and has kept me motivated and in check when I need to take a break! I would love to see a picture when you get all set up, if you’d like to share!! Be free and creative! There are no right or wrongs, just what inspires you!! ❤
